What's Inside this Special Edition Mini-Package?

This is a pre-recorded teaching artist engagement with educational storytelling and singing for Grades K-6. The 7-minute video features Michael Dyke, a Vermont musician, storyteller, and longtime music educator. Through the rhythms of Jamaican folk “Revival Music,” and two of his own original songs, "The Brightest Light" and "The Bottomless Pit", Mr. Dyke imagines how enslaved children might have used music to cope with the terrible conditions of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
